For the poetry festival ‘Dicht aan het IJ’ in Amsterdam, a group of 10 poets were asked to participate and write a poem inspired by the work of Paul van Ostaijen. Each poet was linked to a designer, in our case Tsead Bruinja. The result is an abstract translation of sound in Meccano shaped strips – all different in colour, length and position. The time duration is 2’10’’. Every 2 cm stands for 1 sec. Each word is represented by a black hole. Some have an accent. Colour indicates sound. Silence is white. Realised at Atelier René Knip.
